We did it again! This week the selection of semi-finalists of Holland’s biggest band competition was anounced on national radio and guess what? Exactly. Zorita is one of the lucky 12 bands to have passed the quarter finals. From over 1000 applying bands we’ve survived so far. We’ll be competing for a place in the finals on the 23rd of September at the Speakers Café in Delft. ¡ Arriba !

Finally the time has come that Zorita is recording their first EP. From July 7th until 11th we’ll be recording 5 to 6 tracks in the Legacy studio’s near Amsterdam. At the end of August or early September you will be able to purchase it online here and on i-Tunes, buy it at our concerts or purchase it in some select record stores. ¡ Ay Caramba ! The good news just seems to keep on coming! Zorita is now also selected for the POPRonde 2010, an organization that promotes a select amount of bands throughout Holland by facilitating concerts throughout the country. In a couple of months we’ll know where we’ll be playing. So keep an eye on our concert dates to see if we’re coming to your town during our mission to conquer Holland!

YES !! Zorita is among the 35 selected quarter finalists of De Grote Prijs van Nederland 2010, Holland’s biggest band competition. We got selected out of more than 1000 applying bands, so we will be needing all your support in the coming year! More info will be coming soon!

We’d like to thank every one who came to support us last friday. The concert was completely sold out, and unfortunately many people couldn’t get in anymore. We opened with L’Adieu and then played our contesting harbour song Lost at Sea. Unfortunately we didn’t get the first prize, but did get a lot of promising feedback. We want to thank Drop Radio and their most charming crew for letting us perform on their show today. We’ve had a good time playing our songs, and I think that didn’t go unnoticed with the  rest of the people present on the 8 floors of the public library in Amsterdam. Maybe we played a bit too loud, but better too loud than too soft. The set we performed and the interview will be online in a couple of days.

We’re thrilled to announce that we are among the 8 selected finalists of the Amsterdams Havenlied. The harbour of Amsterdam organized a competition with the town of Amsterdam for musicians to write a new song to represent the harbour. Out of 200 applications our song ‘Lost at Sea’ got selected. You can see us perform along with the other finalists on the 12th of March in De Melkweg, Amsterdam. It starts at 20h00 and entrance is free!

We’ve been working on a harbour song for the city of Amsterdam the last couple of weeks. They organized a competition for a new song to represent the harbour and the city. Check the competion’s website for further details. Ten songs will be selected and performed in the Melkweg on the 12th of march. I think we make a good chance! We finally have our own website! Take a look and make sure you come back for updates and new media. We have brand new video footage of our concert in De Melkweg on the 28th of november.

After a well-earned break, we’re planning to record our first CD in the course of march-april, which will be expected in may. More info on that coming soon. We also planned some new concerts, which you can check in our ‘concerts’-section.

We want to thank everybody who came to support us last night in the Melkweg. We had a lot of fun playing and it was a unique experience for us. Unfortunately we didn’t get the first prize, but this doesn’t take away any of the fun we had last night.

The choice of the jury didn’t match the opinions of the audience and the other bands, but we respect their choice. For us, the finals have boosted our confidence in eachother and our devotion to Zorita. Read more about the final round here.
